Microsoft Research External Research and Programs has funded the Center for Collaborative Technologies at the University of Washington to develop the ConferenceXP platform, apply the technologies to a wide range of educational and collaborative scenarios and strengthen the educational and research communities that use these collaboration tools. ResearchChannel’s primary contribution is high-definition video integration into Conference XP.

ResearchChannel HD is the first step into the new era of high-definition broadcasting. ResearchChannel HD’s purpose is to both illustrate the ability to transmit high-definition television over the Internet and engender interest in high-definition video production among ResearchChannel consortium members.
